I am from extravagant Thanksgivings in Piper
City,
And the always exciting games of Euchre.
I am from farming in the summer,
Fields of corn and beans.
I am from Christmas Eve. at Ma-Maw and Pa-Paws,
My family’s time of pleasure.
I am from their obnoxious ways; boisterous laughing,
And never-ending bickering.
I am from Friday night lights at McRight Field,
Jersey number 68.
I am from gruesome injuries,
And explosive motivation from my coach.
I am from a warming heart,
With family and my girl.
I am from love too late in school,
But shall last to the end of time.
I am from cycling with my family,
The ride across the Natchez Trace.
I am from the canal loop at LBL,
Where head on collisions with trees are my expertise.
I am from a Volkswagen family,
The Jetta’s and Passat’s.
I am from the diesel engine, maintenance repairs,
And the changing of oil.
I am from a family of engineering minds,
My father environmental; my bro of the computer mind.
I am from electronic modification,
Like my Xbox and computer.
I am from an electrical mind,
Which explains my college goals.
I am from fear of the future,
With progression that I sometimes dread.
I am from hesitation of moving along,
And the wish for these comforts to move with me.
